Blackford Boys Golf traveled to Warsaw’s Rozella/Ford Golf Course to participate in the Triton Golf Invitational. The Bruins represented very well with a strong 2nd place finish losing only the host school Triton out of a field of 13 teams.
The Bruins had two medalist in the tournament. Senior Blake Thiery fired an 81 placing 2nd overall with Senior Skyler Cook shooting an 87 good enough to finish 6th. Freshman Quinn Cunningham had a good show shooting a 95 good enough for a 20th place tie out of the field of 73. Senior Jacob Tobey shot a 105, with Senior Dustin Jenkins finishing out the scoring with a 107. Scores were higher than normal but the conditions were hard, the tournament was delayed due to frost and cold, once they were able to tee off they had to fight the howling wind which made this long course hard to manage.
Coach Cunningham share that “Coach Scaggs and I are proud of the team’s performance. The boys showed a lot of character holding it together. None of the boys gave up on any holes, and they all maintained a positive attitude throughout their struggles. This was a good way to kick start our season. We look forward to good things to come because we have a very strong group of boys that didn’t make the trip that will contribute to the success of this team.”
