The boys soccer team gave Delta all they could handle but came up just short in falling 2-1. Austin Moorman scored the Bruins lone goal and was nominated as “player of the game” by the team.
Former Bruin trainer Dan Kunz who is now the trainer at Delta and attended the game shared, “I was very impressed by the boys soccer team tonight when they came to Delta. They played really hard and gave Delta everything they wanted and more. The most impressive thing was the kids sitting on the bench were up and cheering the entire second half. That is teamwork that I haven’t seen on that soccer team since I have been associated with Blackford.”
Coach Batman added, “The guys showed major improvements against a very experienced Delta team. Our on the field communication and defensive positioning was much better. Every player on the team showed the effort it takes to win. Our shots on goal just did not find the back of the net.”
Despite the loss, there is a new air about the boys soccer team and the season and future looks bright if the Bruins continue to come together as a team with the focus on improvement each and every night. If you get a chance on Saturday, swing by the soccer complex as the girls and boys host South Adams. Coach Gross’s girls play the Lady Starfires at 10am. Coach Batman’s young Bruins challenge the Starfires at noon.
