Girls Junior Varsity Tennis, Girls Varsity Tennis · Tennis Comes Up Just Short

The Lady Bruin tennis team came up just short to Blue River, 2-3.

Tori Baker and the 2 doubles team of Nancy Cole and Brianna Phillips picked up their first wins of the young season, but it still wasn’t enough for the Bruins. Tori Baker started off really well winning the first set but then got away from some of the things we had been working on. She did however get things rolling again and was able to come from being down in the third set 3-4 and win the last 3 games to take the match. The 2 doubles team of Nancy Cole and Brianna Phillips played very well in defeating their Viking opponents in straight sets.

Everyone started off well as the Bruins were either ahead or tied midway through all 5 first sets. Both Sarah Gregory and Dakota Mohler played well, but couldn’t finish things off in their first sets. Neither could shake off the loss in the opening set and were beaten handily in the second.

The 1 doubles Senior duo of Shelby Sullivan and Jessica Millikan lost a very hard fought match in 3 sets. Both young ladies I thought played very well. A point here and a point there was the difference.

In JV action the Bruins picked up the first win of the season 3-1. Winners were Audrey Foster and Bryce Parsons in singles action as well as the doubles team of Brittaney Dillon and Gretchen Messersmith. Courtney Eppard almost made it a clean sweep losing in a tiebreaker.
