Bruins defeat the Indians 173 to 182. Evan Jones low medalist with a 41.

The Bruin Boys Golf Team traveled to Shady Hills in Marion on Friday night to face Mississinewa and picked up another win to improve to 3-2. The Bruins posted a 173 with the Indians finishing with a 182.  The Bruins were led again by Evan Jones who posted a 41 on the night. Quinn Cunningham and Zach Willmann fired a pair of 42’s and Ethan Huffman came in with a 48. To finish out the scoring for the varsity Quin Blakely shot a 54.

Coach Cunningham shared, “The boys are starting to play more consistent and making fewer errors. We have some work to do to get in position where I think we should be but we are moving in the right direction.”

In the JV match the Bruins were out shot by Mississinewa 218 to 256. Leading the JV was Jake Strait with a 60, Quenton Thurman and Scott McCaffery both had a pair of 62’s and Caleb Messersmith finished out the scoring with a 72.

Bruins finish 3rd of 11 teams at Eastbrook Invite.

On Saturday, competing at the Eastbrook Invitational, the Bruins had a strong showing finishing 3rd out of 11 teams. The Bruins only trailed a very strong Marion Giant squad that brought an A and B team. Marion’s squads finished with 308 and 344 respectively with The Bruins finishing close with 349.

Evan Jones led the Bruins with a score of 81 good enough to finished 6th overall and receiving a metal. Nathan Brown finished 10th and received a metal as well finishing with an 85. Finishing the scoring for the Bruins were Zach Willmann with a 91, Quinn Cunningham with a 92 and Ethan Huffman with a 99.

Coach Cunningham commented, “This was a good team score, something to build on. Today was a good opportunity for the boys to see the course and understand what it will take to score here. We will travel here three more times this season; first of the three will be next Thursday when we will face a very strong Oak Hill squad.

The Bruins will travel to Jay County on Tuesday to participate in a three way match with Jay County and Bluffton starting at 4:30. On Thursday, The Bruins head back to Arbor Trace to face Oak Hill.
