The Bruin tennis team put up a good fight but fell to Elwood in CIC action, 3-2. t fall to 0-8 on the season.
Dakota Mohler at 3 singles and the 1 doubles team of Shelby Sullivan and Jessica Millikan each picked up their second win of the season but again it wasn’t enough as Elwood bested the Bruins 3 to 2. The wind caused problems for some of the Bruins while others took advantage of it.
Coach Smith shared, “1 singles Tori baker and 2 singles Sara Gregory as well as the 2 doubles team of Nancy Cole and Brianna Phillips all had trouble keeping balls in while their opponents used the wind to their advantage. This is something we’ll have to keep working on.”
In JV action, winners were Audrey Foster and Sieria McPherson at 1 and 2 singles as well as the doubles teams of Brittaney Dillon/Gretchen Messersmith and Anya Aulbach/Sophie Winger. Coach Smith added, “Rilee Smith just missed winning her match. Audrey and Sieria have really improved their game tremendously over last season and as this season continues. First year players Brittaney, Gretchen, Anya and Sophie also continue to play much better as the year goes on.” The JV is now 2-3.
