softball team won 14-12 at Eastern on Friday evening to improve to 2-2-1.
The top of the first saw Blackford Lady Bruins JV take an early lead, 1-0. A single by Lierra Hillman, bringing home Lexi Cahue started the inning off. It didn’t take long for Eastern to answer as it scored three runs of its own in the first. Eastern scored on a wild pitch, an error, and a walk. Eastern pushed across two runs in both the third inning and the fifth. In the third, Eastern scored on an error.
Eastern brought home one run in the sixth inning, and matched that run total in the seventh. In the sixth, Eastern scored on a fielder’s choice.
Blackford Lady Bruins JV went up for good in the seventh scoring four total runs, which came home on two doubles and a groundout by Lexi Cahue.
Lierra Hillman led the team with 3 RBI’s. Jaci Rogers was close behind with 2. Lauriah Lytle started out the game pitching for the Lady Bruins. She had 4 walks, 3 strikeouts, and 1 earned run. Jaci Rogers came in 3rd inning to relieve Lauriah. She had 7 walks, 3 strikeouts and 1 earned run.
“We still have some improvements to make, but I am proud of the way the girls played tonight,” shared Coach Julie Berry.
The Lady Bruins return to action on Thursday as they host Madison-Grant at 5pm.
