The girl’s cross country team finished 3rd of 8 teams at the Muncie Central Invitational this evening held at the Sportsplex. Falynne Reed (22:15) finished 5th of 49 runners to lead the Lady Bruins. Also scoring were Jamie Twibell (9th), Bry Futrell (11th), Jordan Charnley (14th) and Natalie Thurman (17th). The girls are now 31-12 overall.
Coach Gleckler shared, “I am very happy for Jordan as I know it has been awhile since she has set a personal best due to having injuries last year. Today was a definite step in the right direction for our girls as our overall pack time from 1-5 was 1 minute and 17 seconds. This was the first time that our pack time has been under 2 minutes. We will continue to move as a pack and I am looking forward to watching what the ladies will do these next few weeks leading up to conference.”
The boy’s were paced by Andrew Thurman who finished 15th of 53 runners in a time of 18:27. Also competing were Cameron Rinker (45th), Jacob Clamme (51st), Evan Dubois (52nd), and Logun Dienberg (53rd). The boys are now 4-40 overall.
Coach Gleckler continued, “Our goal is to always attempt to beat a team on the boys’ side. On Saturday, we were able to beat Wes-Del, but today they finished 7th and we finished behind them. Our boys team looked a bit sluggish and we will get out there and do what is needed to drop our times over the weeks to come. There are a couple teams in range within our conference that we have a good chance of beating.”
The Bruin head to the South Adams Invitational on Saturday.
