Faith Morris helped the Lady Bruins to their second win of the season over Blue River by the score of 61-58. Morris made her 18th birthday memorable by scoring a career high, and school record, 45 points in the win. She also grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked 4 shots. She also scored her 1000 and 1001 point with a third quarter bucket before adding 20 more points in rallying the Bruins to victory.
The 45 points by Morris was the 2nd most ever scored by a Bruin. Ryan Taylor scored 47 for the boys in an overtime win over Wabash during the ’90-91 school year.
The Lady Bruins trailed much of the game including an 8 point deficit early in the 3rd quarter before battling back. Morris got help from Rachel Thomas who tallied 9 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Alex Whittig scored 5 points and had 13 big rebounds. She also led the team with 6 assists. Gretchen Messersmith rounded out the scoring with 2 points and 3 rebounds.
The JV Lady Bruin defeated Blue River 29-19 to get their first win of the year to improve to 1-7. Makayla Harrold scored 8 points. Sissy Reid scored 7. Katlyn Cale added 5. Sophie Winger and Hailey Morris each grabbed 6 rebounds.
The Lady Bruins head to Madison-Grant on Saturday for a CIC contest. The JV game tips off at 11am.
