Multiple Teams · All Three Boys Teams Struggle With Jay County

The Bruins hosted Jay County on Saturday. The c-team tipped of Saturday evening with a loss. The junior varsity team fell 62-22. The varsity team also had plenty of struggles falling to the Patriots 70-26. All three teams struggled to score. Jay County’s size and athleticism outmatched the Bruins.

The varsity was led by Andrew Beckley who hit three triples adding up to 9 points. Nate Brown and Ethan Huffman each scored 5 points.Tyler Cagle scored 4 points and Jake Ross scored 3 points.

The JV was led by Dalton Willmann with 15 points. In one quarter of play, Jake Ross added 5 points.

According to Coach Grant Newlin, the JV could not match Jay County’s strong offensive performance with 9 players scoring for the patriots. As a team, the Bruins struggled to be efficient offensively. Coach Newlin shared, “We must continue to get better at spacing the floor and moving the ball to get the best shot every possession.”

The c team lost 36-11 to fall end the season 1-7. Braden Kunz was the leading scorer for Blackford with 7.

Please note that the c-game scheduled against Oak Hill on February 10 has been canceled.

Catch the Bruins back in action on Thursday. They will be traveling to Christel House Academy. The junior varsity will tip off at 5:30pm.
