Last night both teams struggled on the road at South Adams. The JV team lost 72-20 and are now 5-13 on the season. The varsity also struggled losing 79-38 and are now 1-17 on the season.
For the JV the leading scorer was Dalton Wilman. In one quarter of play he scored 5 points. Caleb Felver, Nick Otwinowski, and Jaden Reum finished with 3 points each. Blackford struggled against the full court pressure in the first half which led to several turnovers and easy baskets for the Starfire’s.
The varsity was lead by Mark White with 10 points. Dalton Willman added 9 points and 10 rebounds. Nate Brown scored 8 points and Andrew Beckley added 5 points. South Adams got off to a hot start hitting 6 threes in the first half. The Bruins fell behind and were not able to generate enough offense to come back.
Coach Clamme noted “We are in a rough stretch right now. We have 3 players out with injuries and 4 out due to suspension. For the varsity, all of the kids who are out are guards which leaves us shorthanded on the perimeter. Other players have stepped up to fill those spots. Nate Brown in particular is playing a lot on the perimeter. But it keeps the offense from flowing smoothly when guys aren’t playing spots where they’ve had the most reps and feel the most comfortable. Dalton Willmann also did a good job filling in last night. He was one missed free throw away from a double-double. He was really aggressive on the glass and ended up with 10 rebounds.”
The Bruins will be back in action tonight at home against Oak Hill. The JV game tips off at 6pm. Don’t miss out on Boomer from the Pacers tonight! Also, kids will get free admission to the game.
