Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · New Girls Soccer Coach Named

A recommendation has been forwarded to the Board for our new girls soccer coach. Her name is Abby Whetsel and she comes to us from Delta High School where she spent the past two seasons as their top assistant. She has been coaching soccer at various levels since age 16 and also coaches and umpires various other sports.

Coach Whetsel was excited about the opportunity. “I am thrilled about the opportunity to be a part of the Blackford High School girls soccer program. I look forward to the upcoming season and the future of the program,” she shared after being named the new head coach.

Athletic Director Tony Uggen added, “We are glad to find someone with experience working with kids at the high school level. She seems very motivated and eager to get started. Coach Glancy at Delta had nothing but good things to say about her as an assistant. We are happy to have her on board.”

She takes over for Michelle Gross who coached the Lady Bruins the past 11 years, seven of which were winning seasons, and finished with over 100 wins in her career.

Coach Whetsel will be sharing information about open fields in the near future.
