Girls Junior Varsity Softball, Girls Varsity Softball · Lady Bruins Drop Tight Game with Oak Hill

Even though the Lady Bruins and Oak Hill both had their opportunities, it was Oak Hill that eventually prevailed 5-2 on Tuesday. The game was tied at two when an Oak Hill batter doubled in the bottom of the fifth, driving in one run. The Lady Bruins lost despite out-hitting Oak Hill six hits to four.

Alex Whittig took the loss for Blackford. She pitched six innings, allowing four hits, three earned runs, and struck out eight. Saylor Goodspeed, Alex Whittig, Makayla Harold, Haylie Williamson, Alena Lee, and Lierra Hillman each managed one hit to lead the Bruins.

“I thought Alex pitched a solid game only allowing four hits. They put a couple of hits together in the fifth to score three runs. Outside of that we played them tough”, said Coach Dick Lyon.

The Lady Bruins are now 4-6 on the season and will travel to Mississinewa on Thursday. Please note that due to rain in the forecast on Thursday, the game may be moved to Wednesday night. Stay tuned.
