I spoke recently with our boys tennis coach Alison Thompson about summer workouts and the upcoming season. Like most sports, the more kids you have, the more likely the chance for good competition which increases work ethic. Numbers appear lower than last year, so if you are considering a fall sport, contact Coach Thompson and maybe give tennis a try!
Here are her thoughts on things so far.…
What are you hoping to accomplish with your summer workouts?
We are looking to increase overall conditioning and improving basic fundamental skills in preparation for the upcoming season.
How has attendance been so far? Workout times?
Unfortunately, we haven’t had as many out for workouts as we would like to see, but encourage anyone planning on or considering playing tennis this year to attend. Open courts are Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s from 6:30-8pm.
What are your thoughts after the first few workouts?
Although we lose 5 graduated seniors from last season, I’m very encouraged by the quick progression of the returning players thus far and believe we will be well positioned going forward. We have a very dedicated team with a renewed excitement off of last seasons improved success.
Anything you would like to add?
Again, our numbers appear not as strong this year and any boys looking to try a new sport, return from a year or two away, or would like to stay in shape in their off-season for a winter or spring sport should either contact me or join us for open court.
You can reach Coach Thompson at email@example.com for further information.
Best of luck to Coach Thompson and the boys tennis team this fall!
