Bruins boys soccer gave it their best shot but came up on short in falling to Jay County 2-1. Keaton Elkins scored with an assist from Nathan Brown. Charlie Cranston had 17 saves in goal.
Coach Brad Batman stated, “Jay County came out more aggressive in the first half and put two goals in on us. They were the dominant team in the air and played some very dangerous balls into the box.” He continued, “(The) first half was not ideal for us. Our communication was poor which led to ineffective possessions and a lack of defensive presence leading to Jay’s two goals. (The) second half was some great Bruins soccer. We started talking and moving which created some great scoring opportunities that we failed to capitalize on. It is hard to win when team soccer isn’t played a full 80 minutes.”
Wabash comes to BHS on Thursday, September 14. Coach Batman concluded, “It’ll be nice to be back home to play some inspired soccer in front of our dedicated fans. I am confident we will bounce back after this loss to Jay with a great game against Wabash.”
