Girls Junior Varsity Softball, Girls Varsity Softball · Williamson to Play Softball for IUSB in ’18-19

Senior Hailey Williamson will extend her softball career at IU-South Bend next year most likely as an outfielder. She will wrap up her BHS career this spring playing for Bruin Head Coach Dick Lyon.
Williamson was asked a few questions about her choice of college….

What led you to IUSB?
HW: “I actually wasn’t familiar with IUSB until about a year and a half ago when I started doing some research on small schools with good pre-dental programs. I found a few schools that I was interested in both academically and athletically but the first time I visited IUSB and met the coaches and team, I knew this was the type of team I wanted to continue my softball career with. After seeing me play in July they gave me an offer and I verbally committed.”

Who would you like to thank for helping extending your career to college ball?

HW: “I would like to thank my parents for providing me with so many opportunities leading up to this point. I would also like to thank my coach Danielle Benefiel for guiding me through the exciting and nerve wracking recruitment process.”
Have you decided on a major?
I would like to pursue a major in pre-dental.

Where do you see yourself contributing for IUSB next year?

HW: “IUSB recruited me primarily for my speed and ability to play outfield. I hope to contribute at the plate so I can be a threat on the base paths. I also see myself contributing to the outfield since I have focused mostly on being an outfielder most of my high school career.”
What are some things you would like to improve in your game to prepare you for IUSB?
HW: “I hope to get stronger before I get to IUSB. Strength training improves your game all the way around and will make me faster and have more control at the plate”
