The varsity boy’s basketball team got out to an early 9-1 lead against Mississinewa on Tuesday night. They controlled the entire first half with help from Mark White taking two huge charges and getting one of their top players in early foul trouble. Through three quarters, the Bruins led by 4 and were leading in nearly every statistical category including shooting 43% from the field compared to Mississinewa’s 33%. We were shooting 54% from behind the arc compared to Mississinewa at 13%. However, critical turnovers plagued the Bruins as they lost at least 5 points due to traveling calls.
The start of the fourth was the turning point in the game. Mississinewa started the fourth quarter on a 12-1 run which shifted all of the momentum to the home team. The Bruins gave up too many offensive rebounds to the Indians which led to several second chance points in the quarter. The Bruins did get within 4 with less than a minute in the game, but weren’t able to get it any closer.
The Bruins were led by Luke Brown with 30 points and 4 assists. Brandon Stroble and Andrew Beckley each scored 7 points. JD Hoover finished with 5 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Senior starter, Tyler Cagle, was out for the game due to an injury which hurt the Bruins post defense.
The JV boys fell 57-17 to fall to 3-9 on the year. More info to come.
The Frosh/C team fell 42-21 to drop to 3-7 on the season. More info to come.
