17 walks or hit batters and 10 errors greatly aided Delta past the JV baseball team 33-7 last night to move the Bruins to 2-8 on the season. Colton McNeal started the game and was pulled after a third of an inning pitched. The Bruins committed four errors and two batters were hit by pitches to lead to a 12-0 deficit after half an inning.
“Colton had a couple big pitches that he struggled to execute tonight. When you pair that with the errors in the first it’s going to be a rough inning. He’s a much better pitcher than he showed tonight,” Coach Hissong commented after the game.
The Bruins were led offensively by Branstan Wine and Charlie Cranston. Cranston recorded two hits, two steals, and a run scored. Wine reached on a single and a triple. “I love watching those lefties hit. They’re absolutely incredible in their respective ways. Charlie is such a good bunter. It’s fun to watch him. Branstan is more of a power guy and when he squares it up it’s impressive to watch,” Coach Hissong said after the game.
Rydge Dunica added a double and two RBI for the Bruins who travel to Decatur to play Bellmont on Friday. First pitch is set for 6:00pm.
