The JV Bruins fell to 3-10 Wednesday evening with a 7-6 loss at Bluffton. Cam Elam threw three innings for the Bruins allowing six runs, one earned. Colton McNeal came on in relief and gave the Bruins three innings allowing a run.
The Bruins were led offensively by Cam Elam and Dane Baker who combined for five hits on the night. Elam added five stolen bases and three runs for Blackford.
“Tonight was another good effort from the kids but a two run throwing error in the first and a two out error in the fifth allowed a run to score and felt like the difference tonight. The guys played hard and put themselves in a position to win; we just failed to execute when we absolutely had to and against good teams that usually results in a loss. Cam and Colton did a great job on the mound tonight and deserved to win. Credit Bluffton for taking advantage of every opportunity they had and making the plays they needed to” Coach Hissong said after the game.
Taylor Glawson and Isaac Justice added pinch hit singles for the Bruins in the sixth and seventh innings. Taylor got as far as third after his one out single in the top of the seventh but was left stranded after two Bruin strikeouts.
The JV Bruins travel to Eastbrook tonight (Thursday). First pitch is scheduled for 5:00pm weather permitting.
