For the second night in a row, the Lady Bruins tennis team was defeated 5-0. Tonight it was to conference foe Mississinewa. The Indians were led by a pair of sisters who beat the Lady Bruins 1 and 2 singles players Tori Baker and Audrey Foster, both in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. At 3 singles, Brittaney Dillon was able to get 1 game in her first set, losing 6-1,6-0.
The 1 doubles team of Ashley Willmann/Skylar Stephens played the best match of their season so far. They were able to take their opponents to 3 sets. After winning the 1st set 6-4, they took a 4-1 lead in the 2nd, but couldn’t hold on and lost it 7-5. The 3rd set didn’t go their way either as they lost momentum and ended up on the short end 6-2. I told them they should be proud and not to get down about losing to a very good doubles team. In 2 doubles, the team of Sierria McPherson/Kayleigh Clevenger were able to pick up 2 games in the second set of their 6-0, 6-2 loss.
Coach Brian Smith stated, “Tonight ends a busy 9 day stretch against some of the best teams we play this season. I told the girls to stay positive and keep working hard and good things will happen.”
