The JV Bruins swept a doubleheader at Maconaquah to improve to 8-11 on the season. Kyle Price started the first game for the Bruins going four and two thirds innings, allowing one run. Isaac Justice notched the save for the Bruins who went on to win 5-3. Cam Elam and Braydon Kunz each had two hits and a run scored. Isaac Justice, Charlie Cranston and Brandon Apple also scored for the Bruins. “That was our best win of the season. Great opponent and really high quality pitcher we faced. The guys did a great job of finding ways to get on base and make the most of their opportunities. Kyle and Isaac were phenomenal on the bump and Nic was really good behind the plate. All around our best game of the season” Coach Hissong said after the first game.
Game 2 was started by Cam Elam who threw three innings for the Bruins allowing three runs. Dane Baker was sensational in relief getting the win while striking out five hitters. Offensively, Cam Elam once again paced the Bruins walking twice and singling three times. Kyle Price added four singles while Lucas Gore added two singles and a walk as the Bruins won 13-3 in six innings. “Our patience at the plate in the second game was key. Every starter reached safely at least once and kept the line moving. To come here and get two wins is a nice way to propel ourselves into the final week of the season” Coach Hissong concluded after the game.
The JV Bruins host South Adams Tuesday evening at 5:00pm weather permitting.
