The JV Bruins improved to 6-11 with a 15-3 win Friday night against Madison Grant. Drew Caldwell started for the Bruins and struck out four and walked one in one and two thirds innings. Braydon Kunz relieved Caldwell, throwing three and a third innings. The Bruins used patience at the plate and aggressiveness on the base paths to end the game in five innings.
“Really good effort tonight. We were clean defensively and didn’t make mistakes defensively. Offensively we attacked strikes and let the bad ones go. Overall, this is the best game we’ve played all year. Braydon and Drew did a great job of throwing strikes and keeping the defense involved. Nic Thomas was great behind the plate blocking balls in the dirt and limiting free bases for them. This is how we want to be playing as the season winds down, so I’m glad we were able to put together a nice effort tonight” Coach Hissong stated after the game.
Drew Caldwell led the offense with four hits.
The Bruins travel to Maconaquah tomorrow for a double header at 10.
