Girls Varsity Tennis · Baker Ends Season in Singles Tournament

Junior Tori Baker’s season ended last night with a 6-0, 6-0 loss to a very talented player from Muncie Burris High School in the IHSAA individual singles tournament. Tori however didn’t go down nearly as easy as the score might indicate. She had several chances to pick up a few games, but was unable to break through and finish one off. She played some of her best points and had some of her best shots of the season tonight. Coach Brian Smith shared, “I definitely feel like this was her best opponent of the season. After tonight’s win, her opponent sits at 21-2 on the season. The Lady Owl came into the night with 2 wins over Delta High School’s #1 singles girl and a win over Mississinewa’s #1 singles girl. If you follow high school tennis, that is pretty impressive credentials.”

Reflecting on the season, Tori said “I didn’t do as well as I wanted at times, but I’m proud of my season this year. I’ve improved a lot over the years and I can’t thank my coach and teammates enough for making it a fun and successful season.”

Coach Brian Smith added “Tori made the season fun and very rewarding for me as her coach. It’s been great to see her improve each and every year. Tonight was a great experience for her and myself as well. I am proud to be her coach and help her represent Bruin Pride in a very positive way. Thank you Tori for all your hard work. Congratulations on a great season. I’m eager to see what we can do next year.”
