Bruins News · Blackford JH volleyball teams end season

Blackford’s 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams took the court Monday night for the last time in 2018.
The 7th grade team fell to visiting West Jay by scores of 25-23, 25-9 to end the year 4-15.
“The first set was close, the second set however, we lost our focus and weren’t communicating very well,” said Coach Beverly Roberts. “I moved three of my 7th graders up to play 8th grade tonight due to missing 8th graders. Therefore, our rotations were different during our 7th grade game.
“This was our last game of the season. We plan to do an awards ceremony with the students soon.”
The 8th grade Lady Bruins finished the year 1-18 after coming up short against West Jay, 25-14, 25-4.
Result(s): 8th Grade lost in two sets (25-14 & 25-4)
“We were down a couple of girls, due to Fall Break and family vacations, so we brought up three seventh graders to play with us,” explained Coach Matt Weaver. “There was typical confusion in the understanding of court real estate when new players play together. This confusion allowed West Jay to earn some early points we typically would’ve won.”
