The Blackford Lady Bruins fell to Muncie Central, 57-40. The Lady Bruins only trailed by 1 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Lady Bruins struggled to make shots and allowed Central to score 21 in the quarter. The Lady Bruins outscored Muncie Central 25-24 in the second half. The Lady Bruins dropped to 1-15 on the season.
Coach Waters said, “We really looked much better this game than we have the past couple. We stressed all week that we wanted to get back to playing hard nosed. I felt like we were reverting back to old ways and just playing scared and soft. Today was definitely a positive for our club and I am very proud of them!”
Jaycie Sones led the Lady Bruins with 16 and 9 rebounds. Reaghan Harding scored 8 and added 8 rebounds. Gretchen Messersmith added 6. Erin Cagle pulled down 10 rebounds.
The JV came up short against Muncie Central, 47-23. The girls played a great first half, but came out flat in the third quarter allowing Muncie Central to score 17 points. Macy Cagle led the team defensively with 5 steals, 5 deflections and 6 rebounds and scored 5 points. Alexa Hurd led the Bruins in scoring with 6 points. Bre Adney and Sissy Reid both added 4 points. Adney also had 2 steals and 2 rebounds while Reid had 6 rebounds and a steal. The girls dropped to 5-11 on the season.
The Lady Bruins return to action at Oak Hill on Saturday, January 5th. The JV game tips off at 11am.
