Bruins News · Lady Bruins Have Difficult Time with Golden Eagles

The Lady Bruins struggled to really get anything going versus Oak Hill. The Bruins scored just 5 first half points and trailed by 42 at the half. The Golden Eagles went on to win the game 74-16.

Coach Waters said, “The score doesn’t indicate how hard we played defensively. Oak Hill just has some girls we physically were not able to match up with. Offensively, their length made it difficult for us to attack and get open looks. This is a game you tip your cap to the other team and admire their size and abilities.”

Gretchen Messersmith scored 6 to lead the Bruins. Alexa Hurd scored 5 points. Paige Maloney and Jaycie Sones each added a basket.
Makayla Harrold added a single point. Grace Simmons grabbed 5 rebounds.

The junior varsity girls struggled defensively which lead to a 38-14 loss to the Golden Eagles. The girls gave up 27 points in the first half, while only scoring 2 points. The Lady Bruins won the second half, 12-11. Sissy Reid led in both rebounds with 12 and blocks with 6. She added 2 points. Paige Maloney and Alexa Hurd each scored 3 points. Layla Pennington, Macy Cagle, and Bre Adney all had 2 points. The girls fall to 5-12 on the season.

The Lady Bruins are now 1-16 and will play Mississinewa next Saturday.
