Bruins News · Wrestlers Compete at Maconaquah Invite


Illness and injury hampered the Blackford Wrestling team on Saturday as they competed in the Maconaquah Wrestling Invitational. Despite only having six wrestlers, the Bruins finished 10th in the 12-team field and had several wrestlers who placed in their respective weight classes.

Senior Melvin Hernandez had the highest finish for the Bruins, taking third place in the 220 weight class.
Other Bruin placements included:
  • Freshman Ian Reid finished 5th in the 106 pound weight class
  • Freshman Evan Watt finished 7th in the 120 pound weight class
  • Junior Isaac Justice finished 4th in the 152 pound weight class
  • Junior Brayden Kunz finished 5th in the 195 pound weight class

The Bruins are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Oak Hill. Wrestling begins at 6:30pm.
