Bruins News · JV Baseball Falls to Alexandria, 10-3

The JV Bruins fell to 2-2 on the season with a 10-3 loss to Alexandria Wednesday night. Braydon Kunz started for the Bruins and threw an inning and a third before arm tightness forced him off the mound. Gabe Foster threw two and two thirds good innings in relief. “Gabe threw well tonight. His fastball had good velocity and his curveball moved well for him. We weren’t sure what he’d give us in his debut on the mound but he was really good tonight. This is a great performance for him to build on going forward,” coach Hissong commented after the game.

Offensively the Bruins were led by Branstan Wine and Dane Baker, each contributing two hits. Jeremiah Clark, Gabe Foster, Eli Leach and Jared Freeman all registered their first hits of the season tonight for the Bruins. “We didn’t hit for much power tonight with the wind blowing in and their kid working down in the zone a lot. Our guys had a good approach tonight; they just didn’t get a whole lot to fall in for hits. It was nice to see all the freshmen get hits tonight. Despite the loss, this feels like a performance we can build on going forward,” Hissong concluded after the game.

The JV Bruins seek to recapture a winning record at Bruin Field tomorrow night as they host Homestead at 5:15pm.
