The BJHS Baseball team defeated Frankton in the semi-finals of the ECI Tournament, 4-2. Carson Smith had two hits and scored a run to lead the offense. Ethan Morris had a hit and scored twice. Landon Rogers, Mason Merkel, and Evan Charnley added a hit apiece.
Carson Smith started on the mound pitching 4 2/3 innings allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits. He struck out five and walked four in picking up the win. Landon Rogers pitched 2 1/3 innings allowing no runs on no hits to earn the save. He struck out two and walked two. The Bruins improved to 6-4 with the win and advanced to the final against Northeastern.
Unfortunately, the Bruins lost three starters for the final game as they had travel ball games elsewhere on Saturday. Playing shorthanded, the Bruins lost to Northeastern, 21-5. Nate Lemle had three hits and scored twice to lead the offense. Eli Martin, Carson Smith, Gavin Collett, and Evan Charnley each added a hit.
Lemle pitched 4 2/3 innings allowing eight runs on three hits. He struck out six in taking the loss. Evan Charnley pitched 2 1/ innings allowing three runs on three hits. Gavin Collett allowed ten runs on four hits.
The Bruins finished the season 6-5 which was quite the turn around after not winning a game in ’18. Great job!
