The 7th boys basketball team fell to Monroe Central last night 47-40 to drop to 4-8 on the season. The Bruins got off to a slow start and were down 13-5 at the end of the first quarter. They outscored the Bears in the second quarter to go into the half down seven. The Bruins came out sluggish from halftime and were out-scored by six, trailing 39-26 after three quarters. They didn’t give up, a strong fourth quarter put them back within seven by game’s end. Coach Winger said, “We continue to improve every game. Sometimes it’s tough to get the guys to see that when it doesn’t end up in a W. We’ve got the rest of the week now to work on some things in order to finish strong going into the CIC tournament.”
Jacob Leas scored 16 points to lead the Bruins. Brady Hess scored 9. Gage Baker scored 7. Max Bonewit added 4 points and Nick Ely and Kentral Toomer each added 2 points.
It was shared by a fan at the game that the 8th graders lost their first game of the year, 34-27. Information will be added once received.
The 7th graders head to East Jay on Saturday for a tournament. There first game begins at 10:30am. The consolation game is scheduled for 1:30pm. The championship game is scheduled for 2:30pm.
