The IHSAA has just canceled the basketball tournament. Not what we were hoping for, but not unexpected after Governor Holcomb closed all schools through May 1. It just wouldn’t be possible to conclude at that point. Teams would need at least two more weeks to prepare and it would now be right in the middle of what would be left of any spring season.
Thanks to the team for a great season! And congrats to the seniors for being a part of the 1-71 to 52-20 turn around! It didn’t end like you wanted, but you can also say very few ever get to after their final season….”We won our last game.” 🙂

IHSAA cancels boys basketball tournament; fate of spring sports uncertain
The event had been postponed after sectionals in the wake of coronavirus concerns. On Thursday, the governing body announced it was canceled.
“It is with great sadness and disappointment that we inform Hoosiers of the cancellation of the remaining games of the 2020 IHSAA boys basketball tournament series,” said IHSAA Commissioner Bobby Cox in a statement. “While the Association maintained every hope of continuance, it is now evident those hopes are now unreachable. Albeit there will not be regional, semistate and state champions crowned across our four classifications, the health and safety of our public remains paramount and our primary focus.”
The IHSAA said decisions regarding spring sports would come later.
