Bruins News · BCS Blended Learning Announcement 9-16-2020

The following statement was sent out from our Superintendent earlier and we want to share it here as well.  It does effect athletic contests and practices as well.  Posts of all affected athletic contests will be posted also.

BCS Parents,

We currently have four students at BJSHS who are positive for COVID-19.  Whenever there is a positive case, we conduct contact tracing and remove students from attendance who may have been in close contact with the positive individual.  If the number of quarantined students exceeds 20% of the in-person population at a particular school, we will move that school to At-Home Blended Learning.  Because of the number of students currently in quarantine, we are moving BJSHS to Blended Learning on Thursday, September 17th; Friday, September 18th and Monday, September 21st.  This decision is a preventative measure determined in conjunction with the Blackford County Health Officer.  All activities and extracurricular events at BJSHS are postponed beginning today through Monday, September 21st.  Every effort will be made to reschedule as many events as possible.

This summer, we planned Blended Learning for Tuesday, September 22nd, Wednesday, September 23rd, and Thursday, September 24th.  These days were planned in advance to facilitate Parent-Teacher Conferences.  Extracurricular events and practices at BJSHS may resume during this time.  On Friday, September 25th, all BCS Schools will return to school on normal schedules.

We want to thank our parents and students for the tremendous support and efforts this fall.  We have had a great start this year, and this temporary move is designed to keep our momentum going.

In order to help prevent the spread of the virus, we ask all parents to consider these reminders:

  • Screen your students daily for symptoms of COVID-19.

  • When outside the home and in public, practice social distancing and wear a mask.

  • If your student is sick, please keep them home and contact school health officials.

  • If your student gets tested, please contact the school. You must keep your student at home until you receive the test results and you are cleared by the school to allow them to return.

  • During these temporary blended learning days, we encourage you to limit your student’s interactions with other students.

Stay Safe Bruins,

Chad Yencer
