The C boys basketball shook off the ghosts of 2020 and started 2021 by travelling to Wapahani last night. They defeated their frosh team, 43-35. The Bruins led 7-4 at the end of the first quarter. Vince Oxley then exploded for 13 second quarter points, including 3 threes from behind the arc, and the defense came up with some big steals to propel the Bruins to a 25-9 halftime advantage. The Raiders outscored the Bruins 26-18 in the second half, but the Bruins held on for their first win of the season to improve to 1-3.
Coach Dale Winger said, “We finally started playing up to our potential tonight. We played very well as a team. All nine players contributed. Hopefully this is the springboard we’ve needed to really start winning ballgames. We’ve got to bring it on Thursday. Yorktown has a great program. I’m really proud of our guys effort and teamwork tonight!”
Vince Oxley led the Bruins with 21. Also scoring were Randy Winger (7), Kian Wells (5), Ty Neuenschwander (4), Derrick Elliott (2), Gavin Collett (2) and Nate Limle (2).
The C boys head to Yorktown on Thursday for a 6pm contest. This contest is open to all fans.
