The JH boys basketball teams travelled to South Adams tonight and both came home winners.
The 8th boys defeated South Adams 42-23 to improve to 5-3. The Bruins got out to a quick 5-0 start before the Starfires picked up the offense. The Bruins led after one. 8-7. By halftime, the Bruins led 16-11. A stifling defense creating turnovers leading to a 31-20 lead for the Bruins after three.
“Coming off a long two week break we did pretty good. We did a good job of finding the open man (and) ball movement continues to improve. Overall, a good team effort,” said Coach Kyle Pitts.
The Bruins were led by Gage Baker with 17. Jacob Leas scored 10 points. Also scoring were Nick Ely (4), Brady Hess (4), Brandin Rouch (3) and Braiden Gibson (2).
The 7th boys defeated South Adams 47-22 to improve to 5-4. The Bruins jumped all over the Starfires to take a 17-3 lead after one.
“Braydon was a big part of our early start with some easy shots under the basket along with great team defense. Guys off the bench kept the defensive pressure and started to settle down offensively and get good shots. Overall, it was a great team effort,” shared head coach Jeremy Miller.
Mason Kitterman scored 11 points, Braydon Walter scored 10 points, and Reggie Duren scored 8 to lead the Bruins.
The JH boys host Bluffton tomorrow in Bruin Gym at 5:30pm.
