The JH girls hosted Oak Hill last night.  The 7th graders defeated the Golden Eagles while the 8th graders were not so fortunate as the fell to a good Golden Eagle team.
The 8th graders, with help from a few 7th graders, fell behind 12-5 after one. They were outscored 6-0 in the second to trail 18-5 at the half. Oak Hill continue to pour it on winning the third quarter 12-4 to increase their lead to 30-9 after three. The Bruins had a nice finish, outscoring the Golden Eagles 7-4, but fell 34-16 to fall to 2-5 on the season.
Destany Matura led all Bruins with 8. Raegan Ridgway scored 4 points. Adrianna Hall and Emily Ellison each scored 2 points.
Coach Carissa Carter said, “Nothing to hang our heads about tonight. We were shorthanded with 8th graders and some 7th graders were able to help out. Emily did well tonight with handling the ball and making good passes. She appears to look more comfortable handling the ball and making assists. She needs to keep that up! Ready to take on Union tomorrow at home.”
The 7th graders improved to 4-2 after a 26-4 victory over Oak Hill. The Bruins outscored the Golden Eagles in the first and fourth quarters 10-0 to start and finish the game well. All 4 Oak Hill points came in the second quarter.
Coach Carissa Carter, who was again filling in for Coach Amy Sargent said, “Good win tonight for the 7th graders! We were able to spread the floor on offense and get drives into the basket. We did much better tonight with rebounding the ball and being strong with it. Destany had quick hands tonight and got steals which led to her scoring or making assists.”

Destany Matura led all scorers with 16 points. Also scoring were Reagan Ridgway (4), Rylee Heiser (2), Zoey Abbott (2) and Jordyn Bailey (2).

The 8th graders return to action tonight as they host Union (Modoc) at 6pm. The 7th graders are off until Monday when both teams travel to Delta. The 7th grade game will tip off at 5:30pm.
