Bruins News · Bruin Boys Swimmers Break 3 Records in Sectional Prelims

The boys swim team traveled to Jay County High last night for the Sectional Prelims. “Every guy put up their personal record. It made for a thrilling evening,” said Coach Kristie Malott. The diving portion of sectionals will take place on Friday evening. The swim finals will take place on Saturday for Sectional Finals. Those with an * below finished in the top 16 and are moving on to the finals.

The Bruins were able to break three school records last night. Carson Sehy broke the 200 Free record by swimming a 1:55.27. He broke Craig Phemister’s record, that has stood for 33 years, at 1:57.28. Bode Malott broke his own record in the 100 Fly by swimming it in 55.0. He surpassed his prior record of 55.36. And the 400 Free Relay Team of Carson Sehy, Lance Manley, Braxton Malott and Bode Malott swam a new record of 3:28.95. They almost chopped seven full seconds off their prior record of 3:35.92. Kyle Crabtree will compete in the diving competition that takes place tonight at 6pm. The swim finals will take place on  Saturday at 1pm. Good luck Bruins!

Also, a correction has been made for the Norwell Meet held last week. It was initially scored and reported that Kyle Crabtree did not win diving even though a few thought he had. Norwell has checked their records and Kyle did win the diving competition at Norwell. A big thanks to the Norwell Athletic Department for correcting the error. Congrats to Kyle!
