Bruins Fall to Monroe Central 55-44

The varsity boys basketball team fell to Monroe Central last night 55-44.  The Bruins played their best ball of the year and went to the half tied at 20.  A rough stretch late in the 3rd lead to an 11 point deficit heading to the 4th that the Bruins couldn’t overcome. Junior Joel Sharp scored

Wrestlers go 2-3 at Elwood Duals

The Blackford Bruins went 2-3 on the day at the Elwood Duals.  Storm Adney was the teams only weight class champion.  He went 5-0 as he took the 285 pound division.  Brady Swartz went 4-1 at 120 as did Austin Moorman at 106 to earn runner-up awards. Lady Bruins defeat Southern Wells

The Lady Bruin basketball team improved to 3-0 with a 44-41 win over Southern Wells. The Bruins have now beaten two teams early, in the Starfires and the Raiders, who had beaten them last year.  Maggie Weeks-Foy led the Bruins with 18 points. The Bruins head to Yorktown on Friday. The JV game tips off at 6:00pm.

Girls Swimming Falls to Adams Central and Norwell

The girls swim team swam well but came up short to Adams Central and Norwell. The Bruins scored 87 points. Adams Central won the meet with a 107 defeating Norwell by one point. Claire Seelen won 100 Fly and 100 Back. Whitley Felver won 200 and 500 Free. The 400 Free Relay of Bailey Cline, Dakota

Wrestlers Fall to Eastern

Coach Greg Garringer’s Bruins dropped their season opener to a very good team in Eastern 18-60. The Bruins got off to a decent start and were tied at one point 12-12 but the comments proved to be too strong. The young Bruins, no senior wrestled, gave a great effort despite the loss. The JV tied Eastern 12-12.

Golf Call Out

Those interested in boys golf…. There is a sign up sheet on the Athletic Office door. Please sign up to play golf by Monday, November 17.  There will then be a parent/golfer meeting that Wednesday, November 19 in the library (tentatively) from 7-8pm.
