The Blackford Lady Bruins started out solid having a 15-12 lead after one. The second quarter the Lady Bruins looked just a tad slower than normal and were not able to finish at the basket. That allowed Union City to take the lead and never look back as the Lady Bruins trailed 32-21 at the half. In the second half the Indians poured it on offensively which never let the Lady Bruins have the opportunity to get back in the game.
Coach Mitch Waters said, “Union City did a great job of running the floor on both ends. We told our girls that if we could keep them in the 40’s that we would give ourselves a chance to win this game, unfortunately they scored their average. We did a great job of containing their top scorer #14 Lutz she averages almost 17 and we held her to 2. However, #30 Livingston was too tough for us underneath with 16 and #12 Green went off for 12. We just looked sluggish, which was very shocking, because we had one of our best weeks of practice coming in. Olivia Leas led the team in scoring with 17, Olivia Waters added 16, Reaghan Harding and Grace Simmons had 4, 2 for Bre Adney, and Jaycie Sones got 1. This was a tough loss, but we need to shake it and get ready for what is more important and that is Mississinewa and having a chance to win the CIC.”
The Lady Bruins fall to 10-7 still 4-0 in the CIC and take on Mississinewa Friday night at 6:00pm in a boy girl double header.
