The Lady Bruins come up huge with win over Madison-Grant 40-30! In one of the most physical games of the season, the Lady Bruins did a great job of keeping their composure and controlling the ball. The Lady Bruins jumped up 8-0 early in the game, but allowed M.G. to get back in the game with poor defensive rotation and offensive rebounds and were only up 11-8 after the first quarter. In the second quarter the Lady Bruins extended the lead a little going up 19-15 at the half. After a few key adjustments at halftime both on the offensive and defensive end, the Lady Bruins extended the lead to 23-30. The Lady Bruins finished strong and won 40-30 for their first C.I.C. victory.

Coach Mitch Waters said, “We knew that they were going to come out and really pressure the ball especially the guards. They have a very big physical team, and we knew that we had to handle the contact in order to be successful. We came out and took an 8-0 lead early which really got the girls fired up. That lead allowed us to play more comfortable throughout the game and focus on the game plan. We struggled with their size and allowed far too many offensive rebounds, but we didn’t settle for jump shots and really did a great job of attacking the basket. We had multiple girls that have been sick this week and some of which are still sick and they sucked it up and battled through it. We are still making some mental errors, which we need to clean up, but overall we are very pleased with the team!” #bettertogether
